Multidisciplinary designer Jesse Auersalo is FCINY’s artist-in-residency for the months of May and June. Auersalo’s work draws from conceptual thinking, creative strategy and experiential design. His recent works include e.g. experimental sound concept and interactive video installation for Artek, a runway installation and store decoration for Maison Margiela MM6 for New York Fashion Week, an interior concept for a contemporary fashion label ONAR in Helsinki and stage visuals for American rap artist J. Cole for his North American and European tours.

During his residency Auersalo will work on several different projects. He is planning to proceed a second part for his trilogy ‘Dead Comedy’. The first part (Prologue) of ‘Dead Comedy’ was featured at the Finnish Museum of Natural History in Helsinki 2015, and it consisted of 100 pages of posters.

Since 2013 Auersalo has been represented by the New York-based artist management company Hugo & Marie with whom Auersalo is planning the next steps of his career during his stay in New York.

Additionally Auersalo is going to concentrate on creating a new, conceptual interior design scheme for the next ONAR store. ONAR is a Helsinki-based design house established by Irene Kostas in 2014. Auersalo is also behind the concept and design of ONAR's flagship store in Helsinki, launched in 2016. The upcoming store aims to reflect ONAR’s substance and identity at its best: multicultural, innovative and bold.
