Quite often you can recognize good design by how it makes our everyday lives significantly smoother, more convenient and more beautiful almost without noticing. This becomes apparent also in many products of Pentagon Design, a renowned Finnish industrial design agency working with wide range of clients such as Iittala, Hackman, Fiskars, Oras and Orthex. Whether the outcome of the design process is everyday consumer products, such as kitchen supplies, designed environment or retail concept, the key for Pentagon Design is the insightful, uncompromising and business-driven approach to design.

Industrial designer Sauli Suomela is a partner and design director of Pentagon Design, founded in Helsinki in 1996 by Suomela and Arni Aromaa. Since then, the design agency has received numerous prizes, including the prestigious iF Product Design Award, Red Dot Award and Design Plus Award. In 2010 Suomela and Aromaa were selected as the Industrial Designers of the Year by Ornamo, the Finnish Association of Designers. Over the years, Pentagon Design has participated in numerous design exhibitions all over the world, including New York and Tokyo.

For Pentagon Design the unique and long-lasting design is an essential part of inspiring everyday consumer goods. They aim to create inventive, sustainable solutions that meet everyday needs, thereby generating delight for consumers and concrete value for the clients. This approach can be seen in their plain and elegant, yet user-friendly designs such as the Hackman Rotisser frying pan and Iittala jars. In addition to pleasing consumers, their design serves the clients by highlighting the way they recognize the significance of good design.
