Suvi Saloniemi is a curator acting in the fields of design and contemporary art. She has been the exhibitions curator at Design Museum Helsinki since spring 2012, being responsible for the museum's exhibitions programme and the curating and production of exhibitions.

Her latest projects include curating a large solo show of Danish fashion wunderkind Henrik Vibskov, and Don't Shoot the Messenger, an exhibition exploring the expanding field of graphic design. Saloniemi has a background in art history and curatorial studies. She has worked in many of Helsinki's largest cultural institutions and in various micro-projects, as a DJ, radio journalist and the creative director of the Töölö Fashion Institute, an imaginary fashion school based on workshop interventions.

Suvi Saloniemi is particularly interested in graphic design, fashion, critical design and the encounters that take place between design and other arts. During her Mobius fellowship period in the fall 2014 Saloniemi worked at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum preparing their forthcoming exhibition.


Design Museum is an internationally operating museum of design that keeps a national collection in its field.  Design Museum as a specialist museum in Finland maintains a 75 ooo object design collection. The museum is responsible for research and documentation in its field, and for holding exhibitions on design history and contemporary themes. The museum also organizes international touring exhibitions and events on Finnish art and design. The Design Museum has operated in its current premises since 1978.
