Opening: February 15, 7-9pm
Display: February 16-28

Salla Luhtasela and Wesley Walters are Helsinki-based designers specializing in ceramic tableware and wooden furniture. Meeting while studying at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture, they have since collaborated on a broad range of professional projects under the studio name Kaksikko.

Their work, built on functional, understated forms, comprises pieces designed for companies such as Skagerak and Nikari, as well as a series of self-produced porcelain tableware for Restaurant Ask in Helsinki.

During their two-month residency in New York, Salla Luhtasela and Wesley Walters have been conducting research on the distinctive furniture and product designs of the Shakers, a religious sect founded in the 18th century.

The Samuji store provides a perfect backdrop for our work, adding color and softness to wood and ceramic pieces.

A selection of Kaksikko's work will be on display at Samuji Nolita from February 16 through 28. "Samuji seemed like a clear choice to collaborate with when presented with the opportunity through FCINY to exhibit in New York for the first time. We think our aesthetic complements theirs, and the Samuji store provides a perfect backdrop for our work, adding color and softness to wood and ceramic pieces", Luhtasela and Walters describe.

Together with Samuji, we would like to invite you for cocktails in celebration of Kaksikko’s display at Samuji, 12 Prince Street on Thursday, February 15 from 7-9pm. Welcome!
