On 5 December 2025, we celebrated the ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ป๐ถ๐๐ต ๐๐๐น๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ป๐๐๐ถ๐๐๐๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ก๐ฒ๐ ๐ฌ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ธ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฏ๐ฑ together with the ๐พ๐ค๐ฃ๐จ๐ช๐ก๐๐ฉ๐ ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ง๐๐ก ๐ค๐ ๐๐๐ฃ๐ก๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ฃ ๐๐๐ฌ ๐๐ค๐ง๐ and a wide network of partners and collaborators. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of FCINYโs journey, and to all who joined us in New York, as well as earlier this year in Helsinki to mark this milestone!
We were honored to host the celebration at ๐๐ฎ๐ฎ ๐๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ during the ๐ฝ๐๐ฎ๐ค๐ฃ๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐ง exhibition, a fitting setting for recognizing contemporary Finnish art and fostering cross-cultural dialogue. This group presentation brings together eight Finnish artists whose practices engage with nature, mysticism, and the subtle thresholds between the seen and unseen. Through explorations of material transformation, natural phenomena, and the spiritual dimensions embedded in physical form, the exhibition creates a space where the boundaries between material and immaterial begin to dissolve.
Featuring works by ๐ง๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ๐ป, ๐๐ผ๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ป๐ฎ ๐รค๐ฟ๐ธรถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ป, ๐๐บ๐บ๐ฎ ๐รครค๐๐ธ๐ฒ๐นรค๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ป, ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฎ ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ๐ป, ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐ก๐๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฎ, ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐๐ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐น๐ถ, ๐ง๐ฒ๐ฒ๐บ๐ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐น๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ๐ป, and ๐๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ฆ๐ถ๐ต๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ๐ป, the exhibition invites viewers to encounter nature as both presence and process, where matter becomes a vessel for memory, energy, and spirit.
During the evening, we shared the Instituteโs future goals and highlighted our recent collaboration between FCINY and the Consulate General of Finland in New York with the ๐ก๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐น๐น๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ (๐ก๐๐๐) and ๐ก๐๐ช ๐๐ก๐. These partnerships bring meaningful opportunities for emerging artists in New York City and exemplify our mission to strengthen impactful artistic collaborations, partnerships, and the exchange of ideas between Finland and the United States.
The ๐๐ฎ๐ฎ ๐๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ exhibition forms part of a larger collaboration with the ๐ก๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐น๐น๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ (๐ก๐๐๐). The project is kindly funded by the ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ธ๐ธ๐ผ ๐๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป and the ๐๐ถ๐ป๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฎ ๐๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น.

Earlier this year, on April 9, 2025, we celebrated ๐๐๐๐ก๐ฌโ๐ ๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐ต ๐ฎ๐ป๐ป๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ at ๐๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ฏ๐น๐ผ๐บ in Helsinki, Finland. We were honored to mark this milestone during IRIA Leinoโs exhibition at ๐๐๐ก๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐ค๐ง๐จ๐๐ก๐ค๐ข.
IRIA Leino (1932โ2022), the Finnish-born artist and former 1950s supermodel who made New York her home and creative haven, left a lasting impact on the art world. A pioneer of the 1960s New York art scene, Leinoโs profound abstract works have now returned to Finland after decades away. Her unique blend of Color Field painting and meditative brushwork reflects the cultural upheavals of the time and her personal journey, including a spiritual turn after a serious accident in 1968.
This exhibition brought together rarely seen, large-scale works from her SoHo studio, offering a unique opportunity to follow her artistic journey. From the iconic Elephant Series to the meditative Dreamings Series, Leinoโs art continues to captivate, weaving together Finnish nature and design with the energy of American abstract expressionism, an unmistakable legacy that resonates across generations.
Our heartfelt thanks go to ๐๐จ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ, ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ค, ๐๐ฅ๐ค๐ค๐ ๐๐ข๐ค๐ค๐๐ง๐๐ง, our ๐๐ญ๐๐๐ช๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ ๐ฟ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฉ๐ค๐ง ๐๐๐ญ๐ข ๐๐๐๐ค๐ฌ๐จ, the team at the ๐๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐๐ง๐๐ซ๐๐ฅ ๐จ๐ ๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ฅ๐๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐๐ฐ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ค, and everyone who contributed to this project. Your dedication and passion were essential in bringing this exhibition to life, and we are grateful for your commitment.
