Exciting News! We are thrilled to introduce our new Communications Coordinator Intern for 2026, Eva-Li Teir!

To get to know Eva-Li better, we asked her a few questions about her journey, interests, and what she’s looking forward to during her year at FCINY.

My name is Eva-Li, and I’m 23 years old. I’m very excited to be an intern at FCINY throughout 2026! My main focus will be communication tasks, along with production work and general office support. During this internship, I especially hope to further develop my graphic design and writing skills.

I graduated from Åbo Akademi University last spring with a Bachelor degree in Political Science. My major was Civil International Law, and my minor was Media and communications, which I completed during an exchange semester at Uppsala University.

Over the past two years, I have worked full-time at Finland's national broadcasting company, Yle, as a social media editor. This role has given me extensive experience in various forms of media production. I have mainly produced social media content, including interviews and entertaining educational material, but have also hosted live TV productions, worked as a speaker at different events, and participated in two TV productions as the main on-screen contributor.

While much of my recent work has focused on on-camera roles, I am now excited to step behind the screen and explore the creative and strategic work that happens off camera.

In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym, trying out new food spots, and exploring both my surroundings and new countries.

As I mentioned, I have previously worked in communications, though in a different role and context. I wanted to try something new and gain insight into the field from a different perspective. I believe FCINY is a great place for me to both apply the skills I already have and continue developing them. At the same time, I look forward to taking on new types of tasks and gaining valuable experience in new areas.

I also find FCINY’s work very interesting and inspiring. Culture in its many forms has always played an important role in my life, and this internship offers an opportunity to work closely with cultural content while deepening my knowledge, particularly within contemporary art.

For a long time, I have wanted to live abroad in a big city. As a teenager, my dream was to live in the US, so when I learned about this internship, applying felt like a natural choice. I love big cities where things are constantly happening, and I believe New York will be a great fit for me.

I want to explore everything! More than anything, I’m excited to experience everyday life here. It feels a bit surreal to live in New York. I want to visit and truly get to know the different neighborhoods across the city.

I’m also very excited about the food. New York offers an incredible variety of cuisines from all over the world, and I want to try as many places as possible! I’m on a mission to find the best bagels, birria tacos, dumplings and sushi in all of New York.

I also hope to meet many new people and make new friends and connections along the way.

I have to say simply going to the cinema. I love movies and the full movie theater experience with snacks, a big screen and immersive sound. Back in Finland, I even had a film club with my friends. This month alone, I have already been to the cinema twice, seeing Marty Supreme and The Housemaid, and I’m planning to go again this weekend to see Eternity. Experiencing films in New York feels especially exciting, and I’m really looking forward to making cinema-going a regular part of life here.
