We’re trilled to welcome Christina Nguyen as our Production Intern for fall 2026!

To get to know her a little better, we asked Christina a few questions about her background, her interests, and what she’s most excited about as she begins her journey with FCINY.

Read on to discover more about her story and what she’s looking forward to in the half year ahead!

Can you introduce yourself and tell us about what you will focus on during your time at FCINY?

Hello! I’m currently a sophomore in college studying communications with a minor in film. At FCINY, I will be helping out with events, administrative duties, and tracking projects as they go.

What are you interested in at the moment, and what are you hoping to learn or get more experience in during your internship?

Currently, I’m interested in art direction for TV/Film. I have always been drawn to visuals and the way things look, so it makes sense for me to use my creativity towards that field.

Despite my main interest being film, I’ve grown interested in working at cultural institutions and working behind the scenes. I think production management is a great way for me to really develop skills that are useful in being able to carry out tasks. I’m looking forward to discovering where my career could go, whether that be in arts administration or direction.

What made you want to apply for this internship, and what interested you most about FCINY?

I knew if I were to go into a field without any practical knowledge of what the environment is like, I would have a much more difficult time choosing a career. That’s one of the many great things about still being in school and young, as I have so much time to figure things out.

For me, I was intrigued about the opportunity to be able to support artists. I feel like the arts are such an integral part of New York culture,  and being able to express yourself through it makes life more interesting here. So it felt right to be a part of a team that works to make that possible.

Since you’re already from New York, what are some things about the city that you love, and are there any new sides of New York you’re hoping to discover during your time here?

There are so many things I love about New York it’s hard to choose. The art scene here is unbelievably talented, because everyone here is just so diverse and has so many different experiences to share. It’s such a gigantic creative hub that has a little something for everybody from everywhere. Of course there are some bad aspects, but I think it’s ultimately worthwhile.

One thing I hope to explore more of while at FCINY is the Brooklyn art community. Admittedly, I don’t go outside of Queens and Manhattan, so I’m hoping my time at this internship will allow me to discover more parts of New York that I’ve never seen.

What are you most curious to learn about Finland and Finnish culture during your time at FCINY?

One of my goals in life is to travel, and Finland is one that’s on the top of my list. I’m hoping to learn more about the culture, customs, and traditions in Finland, so that when I do go, it will feel familiar to me.

Also, Finland is the happiest country in the world! I want to see how that has influenced the art that comes out of there.

When asked about your favorite cultural experiences…

New York has so many cool and exciting experiences that I usually attend at least one every week. But what I love most of all is the cinema! I love a good movie, and especially seeing it in a visual space immerses you into the story like nothing else. This time of year is very jam packed with movies, so I will be seated with my friends.
