Apply for a curatorial residency in New York!
Finnish Cultural Institute in New York (FCINY) and Frame Contemporary Art Finland are looking for a Finnish or Finland-based curator for a curatorial residency at the ISCP – International Studio & Curatorial Program in October-November 2018. Deadline for applications is April 29th, 2018. The residency is supported by the Alfred Kordelin Foundation.
The curator is provided with a private and furnished studio space and 24-hour access to all communal facilities. The residency includes a €4000 stipend for travel and living expenses, and a separate stipend for housing in New York. All residents at ISCP are encouraged to take advantage of the in-house community of artists and curators, offering invaluable international and local networks, professional conversations and critique.
The candidates are expected to outline their current curatorial interests and ongoing projects, alongside providing a work plan for the 2-month residency in New York. The selection will be made based on the strength of curatorial practice, expected benefits of the residency, and willingness to engage with the community at ISCP. The candidates should have professional working experience of 5-10 years.
ISCP supports the creative development of artists and curators and promotes exchange through residencies and public programs. Housed in a former factory in Brooklyn, with 35 light-filled work studios and two galleries, ISCP is New York’s most comprehensive international visual arts residency program and fourth largest in the world.
The curatorial residency at the ISCP is organized in collaboration with the Finnish Cultural Institute in New York and Frame Contemporary Art Finland’s Frame Curatorial Fellowship Program, with the support from the Alfred Kordelin Foundation. FCINY’s collaboration with Alfred Kordelin Foundation also includes residencies for visual artists at ISCP.
